Companion Pledge

  • Experience. I have senior executive, management or board experience in a complex context, with a track record of setting and meeting targets.
  • Independence. I have no political, commercial, or pressure-group ties that could create a conflict of interest, and I will avoid activities that undermine my independence.
  • Pro-bono commitment. I will contribute my skills without compensation, and I am personally committed to the societal purpose of the NFPO I join.
  • Availability. I have the time and flexibility to serve as a Board Companion, and (if applicable) permission from my employer.
  • Respect and professionalism. I will respect the NFPO's culture and values, act in a professional manner, and communicate openly about my commitments — including when circumstances change.
  • Integrity and confidentiality. I will act with honesty, comply with applicable laws and governance rules, protect confidential information, act in the NFPO's interest, and oppose decisions that conflict with it.
  • Community. I will participate in BoardCompanions activities and share knowledge with fellow Companions.
  • Full Charter. I understand I will read and sign the full BoardCompanions Charter before taking part in a matching process and being matched to an NFPO.
