Stéphane Leclef — Centre M.I.R.

Stéphane Leclef, an engineer by training with extensive international experience in the chemical industry, was among the earliest wave of BoardCompanions. He initially joined via InBoard (the INSEAD alumni program) and was matched through a speed-dating event co-organised with Fondation Roi Baudouin. Centre M.I.R. later approached him directly to take the board presidency.

"Half an hour sufficed to know the fit was there, that we agreed on the fundamental principles. A process very close to BoardCompanions' speed-dating!"

His greatest learning: managing the time factor. In the private sector, the market dictates the tempo. In the social sector, it is the capacity to absorb change.

"Accompanying the evolution while preserving the soul and DNA of the association that make its unique strength — that is a beautiful challenge for the companions that we are."

Three BoardCompanions have served at Centre M.I.R.: Stéphane as president, Alain Loos during a period of HR restructuring, and Marie Van In reinforcing the board with her experience.
